It was two years ago when I was looking at various women attending the blogging conference, Relevant (now Allume). I saw a gal's avatar standing in front of her kitchen and thought, "I want to get to know her." I hopped on over to her blog and just knew I would like her.
Fast forward to Friday evening in the large conference room where dinner would be served shortly. I sat in one of the far back tables next to my friend Logan, who then introduced me to one of her roommates and a couple other gals. Her roommates name was Kristin.
I said hello while pulling out my photogenic memory. She sat across from me and I was spinning avatars, blogs and the like through my head as we sat in the darker lit room.
I asked her, "Are you Kristin from The Schell Cafe/Kitchen?"
She replied, "Yes!"
"I'm Kamille from Redeeming the Table. We connected a couple times on Twitter," I told her.
After that, she immediately remembered, we switched our seats to sit closer to one another and tried to act as though we were listening to the speaker. I remember discussing books, "Have you read 'A Meal with Jesus?" "YES!" "What about Making Room by Christine Pohl?" "YES!" I introduced her to Soul Banquets by John Koenig and she introduced me to Laity Lodge and the Faith & Food retreat she was going to attend.
I think traveling all the way to Pennsylvania from Bellingham, Washington to meet a kindred spirit from Austin, Texas, all the while at the table is exactly where God would want us to meet. Our conversation wasn't long enough, and we've remained friends over these years. Her heart is a replica of mine when speaking of the depth and breadth of outrageous, deep, Jesus hospitality. I invite you to meet Kristin by going to her table as she is spending these 31 days speaking on Outrageous Hospitality.
The best part about this here post is that I will get to give her a real life hug in precisely three days!
